About the Role
The VP, Head of Software Engineering will lead technology strategy and platform development for Cboe Clear US, reporting to the CTO. This role involves building and scaling an engineering organization to deliver mission-critical, real-time cloud-based clearing technology while collaborating globally with Cboe Clear Europe. They focus on innovation in derivatives clearing, including expansion into new asset classes via technologies like blockchain, ensuring resilience, security, and efficiency in a regulated environment.
What You’ll Do
- Build and inspire a high-performing engineering team, shaping talent strategy through mentorship and global collaboration across Cboe’s clearing ecosystem.
- Define and execute the product roadmap, driving Agile practices, continuous integration, and deployments for a multi-region cloud platform.
- Partner with business, product, legal, and security teams to balance priorities, adopt emerging technologies like tokenization and AI/ML, and meet regulatory demands.
- Influence enterprise strategy as part of senior management, manage budgets, and lead incident response for resilient, performant systems.
- Evaluate cloud strategies with infrastructure teams and communicate technology vision to executive leaders.
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related discipline.
- 10+ years of proven expertise and leadership in global markets clearing or operations technology.
- Highly technical software engineering background, comfortable reviewing code (Python, Java, SQL) and architectures; experience building resilient cloud systems.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Track record implementing innovative solutions like tokenization.
- Experience in highly regulated environments engaging with regulators such as the CFTC.
