Gemini is hiring a Deputy General Counsel. The company is a global crypto and Web3 platform founded by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss in 2014, offering simple, reliable, and secure crypto products and services to individuals and institutions in over 70 countries.
As Deputy General Counsel at Gemini, you will lead a significant portion of the general counsel’s responsibilities globally, with visibility into the overall legal function. This role involves navigating complex legal challenges across business development, finance, people operations, tax, technology, and security in a disruptive emerging asset class. You will help maintain a nimble, innovative legal organization while required to work in person twice a week at the New York City office.
What You’ll Do
- Own a big portion of the general counsel’s responsibilities for Gemini’s business globally
- Serve as the lead point of contact for Gemini’s senior management across regions and lead engagements with regulators and governmental stakeholders
- Advise on global privacy and data processing issues and ensure the privacy program evolves with regulatory requirements
- Manage projects collaboratively across multiple jurisdictions and lead/build out the legal team with policies and processes
- Build relationships with leadership and cross-functional partners while evaluating and communicating legal risks
Requirements
Must-Haves:
- JD degree
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant legal experience in regulated environments
- Fluency in English
Nice-to-Haves:
- Strong knowledge of disruptive technology, financial services, or security; prior experience in fintech, digital assets, or high-growth tech
- Proven ability to assess legal business risks in fast-paced environments with creative problem-solving and strong communication
What They Offer
Compensation: $214,500 – $330,000 base salary range in New York, California, and Washington (not inclusive of discretionary bonus or equity).
